About The Author

Merryl Wyn Davies (1949-2021) was a writer and broadcaster with some 40 years of involvement with Muslim intellectual life. After graduating from University College, London, where she studied anthropology, she embarked upon an illustrious career in journalism.

At the BBC she worked for 'Everyman', 'Heart of the Matter' and 'Global Report'. Her books include Beyond Frontiers: Islam and Contemporary Needs and Darwin and Fundamentalism, as well as a number of works co-written with Ziauddin Sardar covering seminal events in recent history.
