About the author

Abd al-Khaliq al-Shabrawi: Shaykh Abd al-Khaliq al-Shabrawi rahimahullah (1887-1947) served as a professor at al-Azhar University in Cairo while being recognized as a realized master of the great Khalwati order of Sufis. Beyond his Khalwati affiliation, he was also initiated into the Naqshbandi and Shadhili orders, reflecting his commitment to spiritual unity and harmony across the major Sufi traditions. He worked indefatigably to bring together different strands of Islamic spirituality. His best-loved work, Degrees of the Soul, is a summary of spiritual wisdom that has endured as a foundational text for students of Islamic spirituality. The English translation of this work, published as The Degrees of the Soul (QP001), represents the first English rendering of this text.
