About
Abd al-Razzaq al-Kashani rahimahullah (d. between 1329-1335 CE) was a medieval Islamic scholar and Sufi who made a lasting contribution to the metaphysical tradition associated with Muhyi al-Din Ibn Arabi. He studied under Mu'ayyid al-Din al-Jandi, a leading disciple of Sadr al-Din Qunawi, who was the stepson and foremost spiritual heir of Ibn Arabi. Through this chain of transmission, al-Kashani became one of the central figures in the Akbarian school. Despite limited biographical information about his life, his scholarly legacy rests on his systematic exposition of Ibn Arabi's ideas and his major work, Ta'wilat al-Qur'an, a Sufi commentary on the Qur'an whose central theme is gnosis and direct experiential knowledge of God. This work has been translated into English and published in two volumes.
