About
A British scholar in the Hanafi, Deobandi tradition, Abdul Raheem Limbada is best known for his accessible English commentaries on the Qurʾan. He graduated from Darul Uloom Bury and then traveled to study at Mazahir al-Ulum in Saharanpur, India, one of the historic centers of traditional hadith learning, where he studied under the celebrated muhaddith Yunus Jaunpuri. He also pursued the science of ifta, the issuing of juristic verdicts, and holds ijaza to narrate hadith. A mufti by training, he served for more than thirty years as a senior lecturer of hadith and as headteacher at Darul Uloom Bury, teaching the classical texts of the Dars-i Nizami curriculum, with a particular reputation for his command of the Qurʾanic commentary of al-Baydawi. He is the founder of Tafseer Raheemi, based in Bolton, England, through which his regular lessons on tafsir and hadith reach a broad audience. His English tafsir works include commentaries on Surah Fatiha, Surah Maryam, and Surah Nuh, alongside shorter devotional titles such as A Gift for Ramadhan and A Tentative Guide to Islamic Invocations. He has also guided students in tasawwuf, and a number of well-known contemporary scholars count themselves among those who studied with him.
