About
Abdul Wadod Shalabi hafidhahullah is the author of over twenty books covering all aspects of Islam. He received his theological formation at al-Azhar University in Cairo, combining deep loyalty to that tradition with an acute awareness of the challenges of the modern world. He later earned a doctorate from the University of Cambridge, giving him a dual grounding in classical Islamic scholarship and Western academic discourse. Within the Azhar institution he rose to prominence, serving as editor of the al-Azhar journal and as deputy Shaykh of al-Azhar, a position that placed him among the highest ranks of that establishment. This combination of traditional formation, Western academic credentials, and senior institutional standing gave him a distinctive vantage point from which to present and interpret Islam to audiences raised in the West. His book Islam: Religion of Life exemplifies this approach.
