About
Habib Abu Bakr al-Adani b. Ali al-Mashhur, hafidhahullah, is a distinguished Yemeni scholar, spiritual mentor, jurist, historian, thinker, and poet, hailing from a renowned scholarly family whose lineage traces back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the line of Imam Husayn. Born in the city of Ahwar in Yemen, he received his foundational training in the traditional Islamic sciences at the hands of his father and other leading scholars. He subsequently moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he studied under his spiritual guide al-Habib Abd al-Qadir al-Saqqaf and deepened his formation in both the outward and inward dimensions of Islamic knowledge. An institution-builder of remarkable scope, he has established more than eighty educational centers throughout Yemen dedicated to the full-time study of the Islamic sciences and rigorous spiritual cultivation, including a center for cultural studies that organizes conferences, seminars, and workshops. He continues to live in Jeddah, where he teaches and writes on contemporary challenges in light of timeless Prophetic guidance. A prolific author, he has written more than seventy-nine books across a wide range of subjects, with a special focus on the jurisprudence of social and civilizational transitions.
