Adnan Zarzour عدنان محمد زرزور

Prof. Adnan Muhammad Zarzour is a Syrian Islamic scholar with a distinguished academic career spanning Qur'anic sciences, theology, and intellectual history. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Shari'a at the University of Damascus in 1960, then pursued advanced studies at Dar al-Ulum, Cairo University, where he earned both his Masters and doctoral degrees. Over a long and productive academic career, he taught at universities throughout the Arab world and later served as a visiting professor at Qatar University. His scholarly interests are wide-ranging, encompassing Qur'anic and hadith sciences, Islamic theology, intellectual history, biographical literature, and contemporary discussions in political philosophy, including human rights, secularism, and nationalism. His book on the Qur'an and its study reflects the breadth of his engagement with the Islamic scholarly tradition.
