About
Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad al-Hawfi was a distinguished Egyptian Islamic scholar. He held a teaching post at the Islamic University in Omdurman, Sudan, where he devoted himself to classical Islamic studies. He began researching his most notable translated work - Portrait of Human Perfection, a detailed description of the appearance and character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ - in Ramadan of 1386 AH. Gathering material from a wide range of classical sources, he consulted with Sheikh Majdhub Hajjar during the composition of the work. Before completing and publishing it, he undertook a visit to the Hijaz to perform Umra and to present himself at the Prophet's mosque in Madina - a personal commitment he maintained before releasing a book on so elevated a subject. The finished work draws on the classical literature of Shama'il and prophetic description.
