He then pursued further study in Islamic theology, sacred law, philosophy, and spirituality under some of the United States' most prominent Muslim scholars, including Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Dr. Sherman Jackson. He served as curriculum director for the Deen Intensive Foundation for ten years, where he developed sustainable educational programs for new and returning Muslims, and has lectured and taught courses on Islam across the country. By profession he is an emergency physician, and he lives in California with his family.
