About
Asim Ahmad was born on April 17, 1975, in Binghamton, New York, where his parents had settled after emigrating from Pakistan in the early 1970s. At the age of twelve, he completed the memorization of the Qur'an in approximately eleven months while studying in Pakistan, before returning to complete his secondary education in the United States. He subsequently pursued a course of traditional Islamic studies. He has served as a teacher of hadith at Darul Uloom al-Madania in Buffalo, New York, one of the leading Deobandi seminaries in North America. As a translator for Madania Publications, he has brought into English a number of significant works from the Deobandi scholarly tradition, including works of Shaykh al-Hadith Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi. He translated Stories of the Sahaba and The Fathers and Sons of Deoband, introducing readers to pivotal figures of the Deoband movement. He is also the author of the Hajj and Umrah Guide, a comprehensive practical guide to performing Hajj and Umrah that grew from a small personal project into a widely used pilgrim's handbook.
