About
Farhat Amin (d. 2025) was a British Muslim author, speaker, and podcaster whose work spoke to Muslim women and girls navigating faith and identity in Western societies. She grew up in London and trained at the UCL Institute of Education, and after working as a secondary school English teacher she turned to writing and coaching full time. Active in dawa (Islamic outreach) in the United Kingdom for many years, she offered practical, faith-centered guidance through her books, courses, and the Smart Muslima podcast, encouraging confidence in Islam and presenting Islamic family values as an alternative to prevailing secular and feminist narratives. She shared much of this work through her platform, smartmuslima.com. Her writing was direct and accessible, drawn from her background as an educator, and recurring themes included marriage, raising daughters, the hijab and its critics, and finding hope through hardship. Her titles include Smart Single Muslimah, a marriage guide for single Muslim women, Smart Teenage Muslimah, an inspirational guide for Muslim girls, Girl, Your Goal Is Jannah, Hands Off Our Hijab, which responds to debates over hijab bans, and a personal book on child loss and bereavement written from a Muslim mother's perspective. She passed away in 2025 after living with cancer for several years, rahimahallah. As a contemporary writer rather than a classical scholar, her contribution lay in accessible, encouraging guidance for everyday Muslim women seeking confidence in their faith.
