About
Ibn Sayyid al-Nas, Abu al-Fath Muhammad b. Muhammad b. Ahmad al-Yamari (671-734 AH / 1273-1334 CE) rahimahullah, was a hadith scholar and sira historian of the classical Sunni tradition. Of Yemeni origin, he lived and taught in Egypt, and became one of the foremost authorities of his era in the biographical literature of the Prophet ﷺ. His major work, Uyun al-Athar fi Funun al-Maghazi wa al-Shamail wa al-Siyar, is a comprehensive sira compilation that draws on earlier sources and demonstrates meticulous attention to chains of transmission. His Nur al-Uyun fi Talkhis Sirat al-Amin al-Mamun is a concise abridgment of the sira that became widely studied. He also authored works in hadith and related sciences.
