About
Iqbal Ahmad Azami is a contemporary British Muslim author, editor, and translator known for clear, accessible Islamic books aimed at young, English-speaking readers and their families. Based in Leicester, England, he worked closely with the UK Islamic Academy, which published much of his output. His nisba, Azami, points to the scholarly tradition of Azamgarh in northern India.

He is best known for a popular series retelling the lives of the prophets in simple language drawn from the Qurʾan and early sources, including The Dream Come True (Yusuf), The Drowned Army (Musa), The Fire that Saved (Ibrahim), The Flood and the Ark (Nuh), and The Great Miracle (Isa), alongside Muhammad, the Beloved Prophet: A Great Story Simply Told. His guide Muslim Manners, written for parents and educators, presents Islamic etiquette and character to children, covering kindness, obedience, respect for parents and teachers, hospitality, hygiene, modesty, and care for animals, with the Qurʾan, hadith, and traditional authorities as its sources.

Azami also helped bring classical and Qurʾanic works to English readers through the UK Islamic Academy. These include Essential Islamic Knowledge (Mala Budda Minhu), an edition of the Hanafi handbook of Qadi Thanaʾ Allah Panipati, and Studying the Glorious Qurʾan, a guide to scriptural principles and methodology. His work reflects a traditional Sunni, Hanafi orientation and a steady aim of making sound Islamic learning approachable for a new generation.
