Ismail b. Abi Bakr Ibn al-Muqri al-Yamani al-Shafi'i (754-837 AH / 1353-1433 CE) rahimahullah was a distinguished Yemeni jurist of the Shafi'i madhhab. He is principally known for his celebrated fiqh treatise al-Irshad, also referred to as Irshad al-Ghawi, which became a widely circulated teaching text in Yemen and the broader Shafi'i tradition. His scholarly contributions placed him among the recognized authorities of Shafi'i jurisprudence during the ninth Islamic century, and his works continued to be transmitted and studied by later Yemeni scholars.
