About
Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Burhani rahimahullah (1932-2014) was a Syrian scholar celebrated for his expertise in the Hanafi legal school and his role as a spiritual guide (murshid) in the Shadhili order. He was raised in the company of leading scholars, most notably his father Shaykh Muhammad Sa'id Burhani, from whom he received an early grounding in the Islamic sciences. He went on to serve as a lecturer in the Faculty of Shariah at the University of Damascus, where his teaching encompassed Islamic law (fiqh), fundamentals of Islamic jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh), and Qur'anic exegesis (tafsir). During the 1980s, while residing in the United Arab Emirates, he was entrusted with representing the UAE in various roles at the Islamic Jurisprudence Council in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His works on the practical pillars of Islamic practice, including prayer, fasting, and zakat, reflect his commitment to making classical fiqh accessible to contemporary Muslim readers.
