About
Muhammad ibn Mahmud al-Khawarizmi (d. 665 AH / 1267 CE) rahimahullah was a classical Hanafi jurist and hadith scholar associated with the region of Khwarazm in Central Asia. He is principally remembered for authoring 'Jami' Masanid al-Imam al-A'zam,' a major compilation that systematically collects the hadiths and legal rulings transmitted through the chain of Imam Abu Hanifah al-Nu'man. This work serves as an essential reference for scholars seeking to understand the hadith basis of the Hanafi school and the breadth of Imam Abu Hanifah's narrations. Al-Khawarizmi's compilation has been an important resource for Hanafi jurists in the post-classical period, preserving and organizing material that might otherwise remain scattered across earlier sources.
