About
Maulana Muhammad Idris Kandhlawi rahimahullah was a distinguished Deobandi scholar known for his mastery of hadith and tafsir. He completed his formal studies at two of the most prominent institutions of Islamic learning in South Asia: Mazahir Ulum in Saharanpur and Darul Ulum Deoband. Among his teachers were Mawlana Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri, a senior hadith scholar; Allamah Shabbir Ahmad Uthmani, a renowned Quranic commentator; and Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri, celebrated for his encyclopedic knowledge of the hadith sciences. Kandhlawi stood out among his peers as a scholar of hadith and Quranic exegesis, and was also known for his poetry and asceticism. He devoted his life to the study and transmission of the sacred sciences and authored a number of significant works in tafsir, hadith, and Islamic theology. His most celebrated contribution remains Seeratul Mustafa, a detailed multi-volume biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that has been translated and widely studied across the Muslim world.
