About
Muhammad Mojlum Khan (b. 1973 CE) is a British writer, historian, and literary critic. He was born in Habiganj, in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, and was raised and educated in England, where he studied at the University of East Anglia. His work centers on Islamic thought, history, and biography, written for a broad general readership rather than a narrowly academic one. He is best known for The Muslim 100 (2008), a popular and frequently reprinted volume that profiles one hundred of the most influential figures across Islamic history, from the earliest generations to the modern age. His later Great Muslims of the West: Makers of Western Islam (2017) gathers the lives of notable Muslims who shaped Islam's presence in Europe and the Americas, while The Muslim Heritage of Bengal (2013) recovers the scholarly and spiritual legacy of his own region of origin. Khan has contributed more than two hundred essays and articles to journals and newspapers over several decades, reviewed books for the Muslim press, and lectured at venues including King's College London and the University of Oxford. He is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, a member of the Royal Historical Society, and founding director of the Bengal Muslim Research Institute UK. His accessible style has made him a familiar name to readers seeking an entry point into the lives of Muslim scholars, leaders, and reformers.
