About
Musa ibn Ahmad al-Hajjawi al-Maqdisi rahimahullah (d. 968 AH / 1560 CE) was a Hanbali jurist and scholar of the tenth Islamic century. He is best known as the author of Zad al-Mustaqni', a concise and widely studied manual of Hanbali fiqh that became one of the most memorized and commented-upon texts in the Hanbali school. The text is an abridgment of Ibn al-Mubdi's Mukhtasar al-Muqni', which itself traces back through the classical Hanbali tradition. Zad al-Mustaqni' attracted numerous commentaries over the centuries, the most prominent being Rawdh al-Murbi' by Mansur al-Buhuti. The text covers all major chapters of worship and transactions and remains a foundational study text in traditional Hanbali circles to the present day.
