About
Omar Subedar is a contemporary Canadian scholar and teacher based in the Greater Toronto Area. Born and raised in Canada, he enrolled at the Institute of Islamic Education in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England, in 1990, became a hafiz of the Qurʾan in 1993, and in 2001 graduated from the institute's seven-year Dars-i Nizami program, the classical seminary curriculum of the Deobandi tradition, earning recognition as a scholar of the Islamic sciences and Arabic. His training covered Arabic grammar and morphology, rhetoric, Qurʾanic exegesis, hadith, and Islamic law according to the Hanafi school.

He is the director of the Mathabah Learning Centre, serves as a khatib, and has worked in the field of Halal certification and monitoring. His books fall into two streams. As an author he writes practical, accessible guides to living the Prophetic example, including "Plan Your Day the Prophet's Way," "How To Live The Life Of The Prophet," and "Rethink Your World." As a translator and commentator he has rendered works of hadith and Hanafi scholarship into English, among them a multi-volume "Commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari" and "A Collection of Imam Abu Hanifah's Hadiths and Fatwas." His voice is calm and instructional, aiming to make the Sunna usable in daily life for English-speaking readers.
