About
Omer Yilmaz is a contemporary author of Islamic books for children and young readers. He is best known for his work within The Age of Bliss series, an accessible set of biographies covering the Prophet Muhammad's household and his close Companions, published by Tughra Books (Tughra Children). The series is built around short, subject-based chapters of just a few pages each, so that younger readers can absorb the lives of the early Muslims in manageable portions.
Yilmaz's contributions to the series include Aisha Bint Abu Bakr, Fatima Bint Muhammad, Hasan and Husayn ibn Ali, and Khalid Ibn al-Walid. His books on Aisha and Fatima introduce children to two of the most beloved women of early Islam, while his volume on Hasan and Husayn is framed as much around their grandfather, the Prophet, as around the two boys themselves. His Khalid Ibn al-Walid traces the career of the famed military commander, first as an opponent of the Muslims and later as one of their greatest generals.
Aimed at roughly ages nine and up, Yilmaz's writing favors a calm, clear, narrative style suited to family and classroom reading. Beyond his authorship of these works, little biographical detail about him is publicly documented.
