Pablo Beneito is a Spanish scholar of Ibn al-ʿArabi (d. 638 AH / 1240 CE) and one of the foremost translators and editors of the Akbarian corpus in English and Spanish. He holds the rank of professor in the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia, Spain. He earned his doctorate in Arabic philology from the Complutense University of Madrid, focusing on Ibn al-ʿArabi's writings, and subsequently taught for nine years in the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Seville. A recognized specialist in Sufi thought, he has held visiting professorships at the Sorbonne in Paris, Kyoto University, and the Toledo School of Translators, and has lectured widely while helping to organize more than a dozen international conferences. With Stephen Hirtenstein he co-translated and presented The Seven Days of the Heart (Awrad al-usbuʿ), Ibn al-ʿArabi's cycle of prayers for the nights and days of the week. His other translations include Contemplation of the Holy Mysteries (Mashahid al-asrar) and The Secret of God's Most Beautiful Names (Kashf al-maʿna). He directs MIAS Latina, the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese branch of the Muhyiddin Ibn ʿArabi Society.
