About
Reem Faruqi is an ALA Notable award-winning children's author of Pakistani descent. She spent her early years in the United Arab Emirates before immigrating to Peachtree City, Georgia, in the United States at the age of thirteen - an experience that deeply informed her writing. Her debut picture book, Lailah's Lunchbox: A Ramadan Story, drew on her own memories of navigating a new country and a new school as a young Muslim girl. She has since authored Amira's Picture Day, I Can Help, Golden Girl, and the middle-grade novel Unsettled, which is loosely based on her own immigration story. In addition to her writing, Reem is a teacher and photographer who enjoys drawing. She lives in Atlanta with her husband and three daughters.
