About
Resit Haylamaz (b. 1965 CE) is a Turkish writer and scholar whose work centers on the early period of Islam, the sira (life of the Prophet Muhammad), and the lives of his Companions. He studied at the Faculty of Theology of Uludag University, completed a master's degree in Islamic law, and earned a doctorate in Qurʾanic studies at Sakarya University. For much of his career he has worked in publishing and media, serving as editor-in-chief of a major Turkish publishing group. His Turkish life of the Prophet became a widely read bestseller and was translated into several languages, reaching English readers as Sultan of Hearts: Prophet Muhammad. Writing in an accessible, narrative style grounded in the traditional sources, he aims to bring lesser-known episodes of the Prophet's life to a broad audience, including younger readers. Through Tughra Books his English-language titles include Khadija (on Khadija bint Khuwaylid, the first Muslim and the Prophet's wife), Aisha: The Wife, the Companion, the Scholar, Abu Bakr: The Pinnacle of Truthfulness, Ali ibn Abi Talib, and Zayd: The Rose that Bloom in Captivity. Several appear within companion-biography series intended to introduce the figures of the first Muslim community to contemporary readers in clear, engaging prose.
