About
Ronald L. Nettler holds the position of university research lecturer in Oriental Studies at Oxford University, where he is also a fellow and tutor in Oriental Studies at Mansfield College. His academic expertise centers on Islamic intellectual history and mysticism, with a sustained focus on the thought of the Andalusian Sufi master Ibn Arabi (d. 638 AH/1240 CE). In his authored work Sufi Metaphysics and Qur'anic Prophets, published by the Islamic Texts Society, Nettler explores the theological and metaphysical framework through which Ibn Arabi treats prophets in the Qur'an, situating him within the broader tradition of Islamic mystical thought. Nettler's research sits at the intersection of Oriental Studies, Islamic philosophy, and Sufi doctrine, contributing to English-language scholarship on one of Islam's most discussed and debated mystical thinkers.
