About the author
Ali b. Hasan al-Attas al-Baalawi: al-Habib Ali b. Hasan al-Attas al-Baalawi rahimahullah (1117-1184 AH / 1705-1770 CE) was a scholar and Sufi master of the Ba'Alawi lineage - the distinguished Hadrami sayyid tradition tracing descent from the Prophet ﷺ through Imam Ahmad ibn Isa al-Muhajir. Born in the early twelfth Islamic century, he lived and taught within the Hadramawt scholarly milieu that produced many of the great Ba'Alawi masters. His enduring contribution is al-Atiyya al-Haniyya, a devotional litany (wird) composed within the Baalawi awrad tradition - the body of prescribed prayers and supplications passed down through the Ba'Alawi chain of spiritual authority. He passed away in 1184 AH / 1770 CE.
