al-Mukhtasar Sharh Talkhis al-Miftah is Imam Sad al-Din al-Taftazani's shorter commentary on al-Qazwini's Talkhis al-Miftah — the universal standard text of post-classical Arabic rhetoric (balagha). The Talkhis itself is al-Qazwini's compression of al-Sakkaki's Miftah al-Ulum (the foundational ninth-century AH manual of the three branches of Arabic rhetoric: maani, bayan, and badi); al-Taftazani's Mukhtasar is the shorter of his two commentaries on the Talkhis (the longer being al-Mutawwal). Together, the Sakkaki-Qazwini-Taftazani lineage forms the central textual spine of post-classical Sunni rhetorical study.

About The Author

Imam Sad al-Din Masud b. Umar al-Taftazani (722-792 AH / 1322-1390 CE) was a Persian polymath who served at the court of Tamerlane in his old age and whose works became the standard textbooks of scholastic philosophy, logic, theology, and rhetoric across the post-classical Sunni world. Beyond his commentaries on the Talkhis, his Sharh al-Aqaid (on al-Nasafi's creed), Sharh al-Maqasid (in kalam), and Tahdhib al-Mantiq (in logic) remain core scholastic references.

"المختصر شرح تلخيص المفتاح" شرحُ الإمام سعد الدين التفتازاني الأصغر على "تلخيص المفتاح" للقزويني — متنُ علم البلاغة العربية الكلاسيكي. التلخيصُ نَفْسُه اختصارٌ للقزويني لـ"مفتاح العلوم" للسكاكي (المتن التأسيسي للقرن السابع الهجري في فروع البلاغة الثلاثة: المعاني، والبيان، والبديع)، وشرحُ التفتازاني عليه قِسْمان: المختصر (هذا) والمطوّل (الآتي). تَنْتَظِم سلسلةُ السكاكي-القزويني-التفتازاني عمودَ النصّ الكلاسيكي لِدراسة البلاغة في العالم السنّي ما بعد الكلاسيكي.

الإمام سعد الدين مسعود بن عمر التفتازاني (٧٢٢-٧٩٢ هـ) عالمٌ فارسي مَوْسوعي، خَدَم في بَلاط تيمورلنك في كِبَره، وصارت كتبُه مراجعَ الدراسة المدرسية في الفلسفة والمنطق والكلام والبلاغة في العالم السنّي ما بعد الكلاسيكي. له بالإضافة إلى شروح التلخيص "شرح العقائد النسفية" و"شرح المقاصد" في الكلام، و"تهذيب المنطق" في المنطق.
