al-Nur wa al-Baha is one of the foundational short Sufi treatises by Abu al-Husayn al-Nuri — a companion of al-Junayd al-Baghdadi and one of the central figures of the early Baghdad school of Sufism. Composed in the lyrical-mystical prose register characteristic of the early period, the work meditates on the relation between divine light (al-nur) and divine beauty (al-baha) in the spiritual life of the wayfarer — themes that became foundational for the entire subsequent Sufi tradition.

About The Author

Abu al-Husayn Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Nuri (d. 295 AH / 908 CE) was one of the central figures of the early Baghdad school of Sufism, a companion of al-Junayd al-Baghdadi and the disciple of al-Saqati. His ecstatic utterances and intense devotional state became foundational reference points for the subsequent Sufi tradition. The Sufi historian al-Qushayri devotes substantial attention to him in his Risala.

"النور والبهاء" من الرسائل الصوفية القصيرة التأسيسية لأبي الحسين النوري — صاحبُ الإمام الجنيد البغدادي، وأحد المركزيين في مدرسة بغداد الصوفية المبكرة. صِيغت بالأسلوب النَّثْري الغنائي الصوفي المميِّز للعصر المبكّر. تَتَأَمَّل الرسالةُ في علاقة النور الإلهي بالبهاء الإلهي في الحياة الروحية للسالك — موضوعاتٌ صارت تأسيسية للتراث الصوفي اللاحق كلِّه.

عن المؤلف

أبو الحسين أحمد بن محمد النوري (ت ٢٩٥ هـ) من المركزيين في مدرسة بغداد الصوفية المبكِّرة، صاحبُ الجنيد البغدادي وتلميذُ السقطي. صارت شطحاتُه ووجدُه الشديد مَراجعَ تأسيسية لِلتَّقْليد الصوفي اللاحق. ويُفْرد له الإمامُ القشيري في الرسالة مساحةً مَلْحوظة.
