Shaykh Ahmed was, without doubt, a polymath, having mastered the Islamic sciences, such as, jurisprudence and exegesis. He also excelled and mastered several other fields, where he was also seen as an authority, having authored books in history, math, and astronomy.

Shaykh Ahmed bin Lutfullah states in the beginning of this great work that his main motivating reason for writing this book was the lack of attention given to the proper manner of perusing books or Mutalaa. His primary goal is to teach and preserve the concept of deep reading. Fayd al-Haram is a fresh reminder about the classical scholarly approach to learning.

About the translator

Mikaeel Ahmed Smith: Shaykh Mikaeel Ahmed Smith is a teacher, writer, and Islamic scholar based in the United States. He embraced Islam at the age of 18 after reading the Qur'an and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. He enrolled at Dar al-Ulum al-Madaniyya, where he completed his memorization of the Qur'an, and in 2012 earned his Alimiyya Degree from Dar ul-Uloom Canada in Chatham, Ontario. He also traveled to Damascus, Syria, to further his Islamic studies, and completed a curriculum covering the Sihah Sitta and Qur'anic Tafsir. He is the author of several works on Islamic spirituality and ethics, and currently serves as a teacher of Islamic law, theology, and hadith at Qalam Seminary in Dallas, Texas. His translation work includes classical Arabic texts, and he is known for making traditional Islamic scholarship accessible to English-speaking audiences.
