Fath al-Muin bi-Sharh Qurrat al-Ayn bi-Muhimmat al-Din is Imam Ahmad Zayn al-Din al-Malibari's celebrated Shafii fiqh manual — among the most widely-circulated Shafii works in the Indian Ocean rim and Southeast Asia. The matn Qurrat al-Ayn is itself an abridgement that al-Malibari composed summarising the foundational Shafii positions; this Sharh is his own auto-commentary, expanding the matn into a complete teaching manual covering ibadat and the principal muamalat, marriage and divorce, inheritance, criminal law, and judicature. The work has been the standard Shafii teaching text on the Malabar Coast, in the Hadrami diaspora, and in Indonesia and Malaysia for more than four centuries, and remains continuously printed and taught today.

About The Author

Imam Ahmad Zayn al-Din b. Muhammad al-Malibari (938-987 AH / 1531-1579 CE) was the leading Shafii authority of the Malabar Coast of southwestern India in the late tenth Islamic century. A student of Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami in Mecca, he returned to Malabar where he taught at the celebrated Ponnani madrasa. Beyond Fath al-Muin, his Tuhfat al-Mujahidin — a chronicle of the Portuguese invasion of the Malabar Coast and the local Muslim resistance — is an important historical document.

"فتح المعين بشرح قرة العين بمهمات الدين" متنُ الشافعية الذي صار حَجَر الزاوية للتعليم الفقهي الشافعي في محيط المحيط الهندي وجنوب شرق آسيا. متنُ "قرة العين" نَفْسُه مختصرٌ للمؤلف يلخّص المسائل الشافعية الأساسية؛ وهذا الشرحُ هو شرحُه عليه، يُوَسِّعه إلى دليلٍ تدريسي كامل يَستوعب العبادات وأهمّ المعاملات والأنكحة والمواريث والجنايات والقضاء. صار الكتابُ المتنَ المعتمد للتعليم الشافعي في الساحل المالباري والجالية الحضرمية وإندونيسيا وماليزيا منذ أربعة قرون.

عن المؤلف

الإمام أحمد زين الدين بن محمد المعبري المليباري (٩٣٨-٩٨٧ هـ) إمام الشافعية في الساحل المالباري بجنوب غرب الهند في القرن العاشر الهجري. تتلمذ على الإمام ابن حجر الهيتمي بمكّة، ثم رَجَع إلى بَلَده ودَرَّس في مدرسة فُونّاني الشهيرة. له بالإضافة إلى "فتح المعين" "تحفة المجاهدين" — وثيقةً تاريخية في الغزو البرتغالي للساحل المالباري والمقاومة المسلمة المحلية.
