Hashiyat al-Sajai ala Sharh Ibn Aqil is Shaykh al-Sajai's massive five-volume gloss on Ibn Aqil's commentary on Ibn Malik's Alfiyya — bringing the reader to the deepest level of the classical Arabic grammatical curriculum. The matn (Ibn Malik's Alfiyya) is the universal grammar poem; Ibn Aqil's commentary is its standard scholastic explanation; al-Sajai's hashiya supplies the questions, qualifications, and supercommentary tradition that the advanced student requires for full mastery. About The Author

Shaykh Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Sajai (d. 1197 AH / 1783 CE) was an Egyptian Shafii grammarian and scholar of al-Azhar, prolific author of commentaries on classical Arabic linguistic and devotional matns. Beyond this hashiya, his commentary on Zarruq's Wazifa Zarruqiyya is also widely used in Egyptian Shadhili circles.

عن المؤلف

الشيخ شهاب الدين أحمد السجاعي (ت ١١٩٧ هـ) فقيه شافعي ونحوي أزهري مصري، صاحبُ الشروح على المتون العربية والدعوية الكلاسيكية. له بالإضافة إلى هذه الحاشية شرحٌ على الوظيفة الزرّوقيّة، يُسْتعمَل في الحلقات الشاذلية المصرية.
