Iqaz al-Himam is Shaykh Ahmad Ibn Ajiba's sustained commentary on the Hikam of Ibn Ata Allah al-Sakandari — the foundational matn of the Shadhili way and one of the most-read Sufi texts in the entire literature of Islamic spirituality. Where the Hikam compresses centuries of inner experience into 264 terse aphorisms, Ibn Ajiba opens each saying patiently, unfolding its theological premises, its scriptural anchoring, and its practical implications for the wayfarer. His own deep grounding in the Shadhili-Darqawi tradition allows him to draw on the lived experience of the line's masters to illustrate the inner meaning of each hikma.

Together with Ibn Ibad al-Rondi's al-Tanbih and al-Sharnubi's shorter commentary, Iqaz al-Himam stands as one of the three indispensable commentaries on the Hikam. It is universally regarded in the Maghribi-Egyptian Shadhili tradition as the most accessible and spiritually nourishing of the three.

About The Author

Shaykh Ahmad b. Muhammad Ibn Ajiba al-Hasani (1161-1224 AH / 1748-1809 CE) was a Moroccan Sharifi scholar and Darqawi-Shadhili Sufi master from Tetouan. Initially trained as a jurist and grammarian, he was drawn into the Shadhili-Darqawi line through Shaykh Muhammad al-Buzidi and became one of its most prolific exponents. Beyond Iqaz al-Himam, his major works include al-Bahr al-Madid (a Sufi tafsir of the Quran) and his celebrated autobiography al-Fahrasa.

إيقاظ الهمم شرحٌ مَطْوَلٌ للشيخ أحمد بن عجيبة على الحكم العطائية لابن عطاء الله السكندري — أساس المذهب الشاذلي وأوسع متن صوفي انتشاراً في تاريخ التصوّف الإسلامي. حيث تختزل الحكم قروناً من الخبرة الباطنة في ٢٦٤ حكمة موجزة، يُفتِح ابنُ عجيبة كلَّ حكمةٍ بصبر، يكشف فرضيّاتها العقدية، وأصولها النصّية، وآثارها العملية على السالك. ويستمدّ من خبرة الطريقة الشاذلية الدرقاوية الأمثلةَ التي يبيِّن بها معاني الحكم.

عن المؤلف

الشيخ أحمد بن محمد ابن عجيبة الحسني (١١٦١-١٢٢٤ هـ) عالم شريف مغربي وقطب من أقطاب الطريقة الشاذلية الدرقاوية من تطوان. تَفَقَّه في النحو والفقه ثم سَلَك على يدي الشيخ محمد البوزيدي، فصار من أعرز رجال السلسلة. له بالإضافة إلى الإيقاظ تفسير القرآن "البحر المديد"، وسيرته الذاتية الشهيرة "الفهرسة".
