Khulasat al-Bayan fi ba'd Maathir Mawlana al-Sultan Abd al-Hamid al-Thani is Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani's commemoration of the achievements of Sultan Abdulhamid II — the penultimate Ottoman sultan, under whose reign al-Nabhani served as judge in Beirut and to whom he remained personally devoted. Composed in the high-Arabic register of late-Ottoman scholarly prose, the work documents the sultan's religious commitments, his patronage of the Sunni-Sufi tradition, his Hijaz Railway and other infrastructural projects, his pan-Islamic policy, and his defense of the caliphal institution in the face of European pressure. A remarkable first-person historical document from a senior religious official of the late Ottoman state.

About The Author

Imam Yusuf b. Ismail al-Nabhani (1265-1350 AH / 1849-1932 CE) was a Palestinian Hanafi judge who served in the courts of Beirut under the late Ottoman empire. Born in Ijzim near Haifa to a family with deep scholarly and Sufi lineage, he received his classical training at al-Azhar in Cairo under masters including Shaykh Ibrahim al-Saqqa and Shaykh Yusuf al-Barqawi. He devoted his enormous literary energy to defending and propagating the traditional Sunni-Sufi heritage in an age of rising reformist challenge — composing more than eighty works in salawat, istighatha, manaqib, theological defense, and Prophetic praise.

"خلاصة البيان في بعض مآثر مولانا السلطان عبد الحميد الثاني" تَخْليدُ الإمام النبهاني لمآثر السلطان عبد الحميد الثاني — قبل-الأخير من سلاطين العثمانيين، الذي خَدَم في عهده الإمامُ قاضياً ببيروت وبَقي وَلاؤه له شخصياً. صنَّف الكتابَ بأسلوب النثر العلمي العثماني الرَّفيع، يُوَثِّق فيه التزامات السلطان الدينية، وعنايتَه بتراث السنّة والصوفية، ومشروعَ سكّة حديد الحجاز وغيره من البِنى التحتية، وسياستَه الإسلامية الجامعة، ودفاعَه عن مؤسّسة الخلافة في وجه الضَّغْط الأوروبي. وثيقةٌ تاريخية بليغة من قَلَم مسؤول ديني كبير في الدولة العثمانية المتأخّرة.

عن المؤلف

الإمام يوسف بن إسماعيل النبهاني (١٢٦٥-١٣٥٠ هـ) قاضٍ حنفيٌّ فلسطيني خَدَم في محاكم بيروت في العهد العثماني المتأخّر. وُلد بإجزِم قرب حيفا في أسرةٍ ذات سلسلة علميّة وصوفية، وتَلَقَّى علمَه الكلاسيكي بالأزهر على شيوخٍ منهم الشيخ إبراهيم السقّا والشيخ يوسف البرقاوي. كرَّس طاقته الأدبية الهائلة للدفاع عن تراث السنّة والتصوّف ولِنَشْره في عصر التحدّيات الإصلاحية، فألَّف ما يَزيد على ثمانين كتاباً في الصلوات والاستغاثة والمناقب والدفاع العقدي ومديح النبي ﷺ.
