Kifayat al-Atqiya (also known as Kifayat al-Atqiya wa Minhaj al-Asfiya) is Sayyid Bakri Shatta al-Dimyati's commentary on the Hidayat al-Adhkiya ila Tariq al-Awliya — the celebrated Sufi poem by Imam Zayn al-Din al-Malibari that summarises the path of the friends of Allah. The work walks the student through the foundational stations of Sunni Sufism — repentance, sincere intention, the manners of the wayfarer with his shaykh and with his brethren, the daily disciplines, and the trials and openings of the spiritual journey — anchoring every position firmly in the Quran and Sunna and the lived practice of the Sunni Sufi masters.

Widely taught in the Hadrami Baalawi and broader Shadhili teaching tradition for spiritual training (tarbiya) of beginners, the work is read aloud in beginner halqas and revisited throughout the life of the wayfarer.

About The Author

Sayyid Bakri b. Muhammad Shatta al-Dimyati (d. 1310 AH / 1893 CE) was an Egyptian-born Shafii jurist and Sufi of Hadrami sayyid lineage who settled in Makka, where he taught and authored major works. Beyond Kifayat al-Atqiya, his celebrated four-volume Ianat al-Talibin is among the most-used Shafii fiqh references of the modern era.

"كفاية الأتقياء ومنهاج الأصفياء" شرحٌ للسيد بكري بن محمد شطّا الدمياطي على منظومة "هداية الأذكياء إلى طريق الأولياء" للإمام زين الدين المليباري، التي لخّصت طريق أولياء الله. يَسلُك بالطالب في مَنازل التصوّف السنّي: التوبة، وصدق النيّة، وآداب السالك مع شيخه وإخوانه، والأذكار اليومية، وتجارب الطريق ومنحه؛ مُؤَصِّلاً كلَّ مسألة بالقرآن والسنّة وبسيرة أئمّة الصوفية السنّيّين.

عن المؤلف

السيد بكري بن محمد شطّا الدمياطي (ت ١٣١٠ هـ) فقيه شافعي وصوفي مصري الأصل من السادة الباعلوية، استوطن مكّة المكرّمة وفيها درَّس وصنَّف. له بالإضافة إلى الكفاية كتاب "إعانة الطالبين" في أربعة مجلدات، من أوسع كتب الفقه الشافعي تداولاً في العصر الحديث.
