Majmu fi al-Istighatha is Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani's compilation of supplications of istighatha — the devotional practice, central to Sunni-Sufi piety for fourteen centuries, of seeking the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the friends of God in one's calling upon Allah. The collection brings together the Quranic verses, the prophetic prayers, and the supplications composed by the great Sunni imams that exemplify this practice, paired with the theological framing that situates istighatha within the strict monotheism (tawhid) of Sunni belief. The work is at once a devotional compendium and a quiet theological defense of the practice against its reformist critics.

About The Author

Imam Yusuf b. Ismail al-Nabhani (1265-1350 AH / 1849-1932 CE) was a Palestinian Hanafi judge in late-Ottoman Beirut, the supreme literary defender of istighatha and tawassul in his generation.

الإمام يوسف بن إسماعيل النبهاني (١٢٦٥-١٣٥٠ هـ) قاضٍ حنفيٌّ فلسطيني في بيروت العثمانية، أعظم الكتّاب دفاعاً عن التوسّل والاستغاثة في جيله.
