Mashariq al-Anwar al-Mudiyya is Imam al-Qastallani's celebrated commentary on al-Busiri's Burda — the most famous ode in the entire literature of Arabic Prophetic praise. The Burda (al-Kawakib al-Durriyya fi Madh Khayr al-Bariyya), 160 lines composed by al-Busiri in seventh-century AH Egypt after a healing dream of the Prophet, has been recited continuously in Sunni circles ever since and has generated dozens of major commentaries. al-Qastallani's commentary is especially valued for its hadith-rich approach: he is best known as a master of the Prophetic sira (his Mawahib al-Laduniyya is one of the major classical sira works), and he brings to each line of the Burda the textual depth of a celebrated muhaddith and seerah scholar.

About The Author

Imam Shihab al-Din Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Qastallani (851-923 AH / 1448-1517 CE) was the foremost Egyptian Shafii hadith and sira scholar of the late Mamluk era. His Irshad al-Sari is a multi-volume commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari that remains one of the standard references for the work, and his Mawahib al-Laduniyya is among the four canonical classical sira works alongside Ibn Hisham, al-Tabari, and Ibn Sayyid al-Nas.

"مشارق الأنوار المضيّة شرح البردة" شرحُ الإمام القسطلاني المشهور على بُرْدَة البوصيري — أَشْهَر قصيدةٍ في تاريخ المديح النبوي العربي. تُلِيَت البُرْدَة (الكواكب الدريّة في مدح خير البريّة، في ١٦٠ بيتاً، صنّفها البوصيري في القرن السابع الهجري بعد رؤيا الشفاء النبوية) منذ ذلك العصر، وعليها شروحٌ كثيرة. ومَيْزَةُ شرح القسطلاني أنّه يأتي من قَلَم إمامٍ من أئمّة الحديث والسيرة — صاحبُ "إرشاد الساري" على البخاري و"المواهب اللدنية" — فيَأَنق إليه عُمْقَ الذخيرة النصّية الحديثية والسيرية.

الإمام شهاب الدين أحمد بن محمد القسطلاني (٨٥١-٩٢٣ هـ) إمام أهل الحديث والسيرة في مصر المماليكية المتأخّرة. له "إرشاد الساري" شرحاً على صحيح البخاري، و"المواهب اللدنيّة" من أمّهات السيرة الكلاسيكية بعد ابن هشام والطبري وابن سيد الناس.
