Zaheer Khatri: Zaheer Khatri is a contemporary author, educator, and publisher best known as the founder of Learning Roots, the Islamic children's education brand he established in 2004 and has directed since. Under his leadership the company became a recognized name in its niche, with resources distributed in more than thirty countries. He read mathematics and economics at the London School of Economics, then earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Education followed by a master's degree in curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. Before founding Learning Roots he taught mathematics in a London secondary school, coordinated special projects at a further-education college, and served as headmaster of a private primary school, grounding his publishing in classroom experience. Khatri has authored a wide range of Learning Roots titles, both instructional and narrative. These include Tajweed Untangled, a clearly laid-out guide to the rules of Qurʾan recitation that helped set a new standard for tajwid books, along with children's resources such as The Box of Manners, Quranic Opposites, Prayer Practice, Qibla Arrow, Remind Me, and storybooks like Stories of the Prophets and My Prophet Muhammad. His stated aim across these works is to present the religion of Islam to young readers in the best possible light, combining sound content with engaging, accessible design. He lives in London.
Yasmin Mussa: Yasmin Mussa is a contemporary British author and publisher who specializes in Islamic books for the very young, and a co-founder and director of Learning Roots, widely regarded as one of the world's leading Muslim children's publishers. Her warm, rhyming, interactive style has produced a number of best-selling early-years titles. These include "The Way to Jannah," a lift-the-flap book in which a small boy learns the meaning of the Shahada on a journey up a mountain; the board book "Allah Knows All About Me," which gently roots a child's faith in their Creator; "My Touch and Feel Alif Baa Taa," introducing the Arabic letters; and "The ABC of Allah Loves Me." Several titles were produced together with her Learning Roots colleague Zaheer Khatri. Beyond writing, Mussa has a long record in Islamic education stretching across roughly two decades. She founded two Islamic supplementary schools, served as a head of department at several institutions, and helped pioneer an Arabic-language curriculum that has reached children in many countries. She continues to support the wider Islamic education sector through consultancy work. Her books are valued by Muslim parents and teachers for their accessible language, durable formats, and clear grounding of belief, prayer, and the Arabic alphabet in a child's everyday world.
