About The Book

The long awaited third book of the series has arrived! The summer and all its adventures have faded away and now Jem feels distant, disconnected and lost. His restlessness will not leave him until he goes back: to the depths of the woods, the old woman and her Mihrab, and the Awliya that wait beyond.
But this time, he is not prepared for what will meet him there. Friend and foe are no longer clear. Danger emerges in the places he thought most safe. All he felt he could trust is shaken. He must travel the High Road, through the wilderness, in darkness and confusion, over mist and mountain. He must find answers, lost friends, the way through, the way forward. And, above all, the truth of who he is and who they are - the Awliya Allah. *
The book series explores a vast array of cultures and their storied heritage, presenting positive role models, wrapped up between both exciting adventures and more familiar contexts. The books are diverse in characters and cultures and can be enjoyed by readers of all backgrounds, being grounded in universal values.
Central themes as spirituality, diversity, and the celebration of heritage, mythologies and cultures from around the world are explored, in a manner and style engaging for the young audience.

About the author

Noor-un-Nisaa Yusuf: Noor-un-Nisaa Yusuf is a British poet, author, editor, and artist born in South Africa and raised in the United Kingdom. At only fifteen years of age, over the course of twelve nights, she composed The Soliloquy of the Full Moon (2015), a thousand-line narrative epic in fully metered English verse that details the signs, wonders, and prophecies surrounding the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, making it the first original English mawlid of its kind. She is the creator of the Adventures with the Awliya children's series, a spiritually rich adventure sequence drawing on the lives of Muslim mystics and saints, comprising Beyond the Forest (2019), Through the Blue Gate (2021), and Over Mist and Mountain (2024). She has also worked as a translator alongside her father Shaykh Dr Asim Yusuf, co-translating Contemplating the Qur'an (Ihsan Institute, 2017). Initiated into the Chishti Habibi Order under Hazrat Ghulam Muhyi al-Din Kazi, she has pursued a decade of traditional study in Islamic law, theology, metaphysics, and spirituality, receiving authorization to transmit the six canonical hadith works via elevated chains. Her literary work has earned her a three-times Young Muslim Writers Award.
