About the Book:

Self Knowledge comprises commentaries by Shaykh al-Akbar Ibn al-‘Arabi, Shaykh Ibn ‘Ata’Allah al-Iskandar, and Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi on the famous qasida by Abu Madyan al-Ghawth, plus two commentaries by Sidi Fudul ibn Muhammad al-Hawari as-Sufi of Fez on songs by Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib and Shaykh Ali Wafa.

This book contains contemporary Sufistic ( mystical ) songs and their commentaries in English. The songs are translated from the Arabic original by a good translator, Aisha Abd Ar-Rahman At- Tarjumana. Commentaries on the songs are of particular interest to those who are concerned with Sufism or Islamic mysticism. The book also contains the biographies of the authors of the original songs.
