Sharh Tuhfat al-Atfal is Shaykh Nur al-Din al-Dabba's commentary on Tuhfat al-Atfal — the celebrated tajweed primer in verse composed by Shaykh Sulayman al-Jamzuri in 1198 AH. The matn (61 lines of rajaz) covers the foundational ahkam of tajweed: the rulings of nun sakina and tanwin (izhar, idgham, iqlab, ikhfa), the rulings of mim sakina, the rulings of lam in the divine name, and the categories of madd (lengthening). al-Dabba's commentary unpacks each ruling with examples drawn from the Quran itself, with the precision of one of the great twentieth-century shaykhs of qiraat.

Tuhfat al-Atfal is universally the first text placed in the hands of a serious student of tajweed, and al-Dabba's commentary remains among the standard teaching references for it.

About The Author

Shaykh Nur al-Din Ali b. Muhammad al-Dabba (1278-1376 AH / 1861-1956 CE) was the supreme Egyptian authority on qiraat in the early twentieth century — the chief mushaf-verifier of the Egyptian state and the teacher of an entire generation of contemporary masters of recitation. His works on the ten qiraat and on tajweed remain foundational references.

"شرح تحفة الأطفال" للشيخ نور الدين الضبّاع شرحٌ على متن "تحفة الأطفال" للشيخ سليمان الجمزوري (صنّفه سنة ١١٩٨ هـ). يَستوعب المتنُ (٦١ بيتاً من الرَّجَز) أحكامَ تجويد القرآن: أحكام النون الساكنة والتنوين، وأحكام الميم الساكنة، وأحكام لام الجلالة، وأقسام المدود. يَفُكُّ الشرحُ كلَّ حُكْمٍ بأمثلةٍ من القرآن نفسه، بدقّة أحد أئمّة القراءات في القرن العشرين.

عن المؤلف

الشيخ نور الدين علي بن محمد الضبّاع (١٢٧٨-١٣٧٦ هـ) شيخ المقارئ المصرية في أوائل القرن العشرين، وشيخُ جيلٍ كاملٍ من أئمّة القراءات المعاصرين. له مؤلَّفاتٌ مرجعيّة في القراءات العشر وفي التجويد.
