Shawahid al-Haqq fi al-Istighatha bi-Sayyid al-Khalq is Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani's most extensive defense of istighatha and tawassul through the Prophet (peace be upon him) — composed in the late Ottoman period as the practice came under sustained reformist attack. The work is encyclopedic in its citation: across two volumes, Nabhani brings forward the Quranic evidence, the canonical hadith, the lived practice of the Companions, and the explicit positions of every major Sunni imam — from the four founders of the schools through al-Bukhari, al-Bayhaqi, al-Nawawi, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, and many more — to demonstrate that the practice of istighatha is the consensus (ijma) of the Sunni community, not an aberration of the Sufis.

About The Author

Imam Yusuf b. Ismail al-Nabhani (1265-1350 AH / 1849-1932 CE) was a Palestinian Hanafi judge in late-Ottoman Beirut, the supreme literary defender of istighatha and tawassul in his generation.
