Tadrib al-Rawi is Imam al-Suyuti's celebrated five-volume commentary on al-Nawawi's Taqrib wa al-Taysir li-Marifat Sunan al-Bashir al-Nadhir — itself a refinement and abridgement of Ibn al-Salah's celebrated Muqaddima in mustalah al-hadith. The work has been the standard advanced textbook of post-classical hadith terminology across the Sunni world, addressing every technical category of hadith — sahih, hasan, daif, mutawatir, ahad, marfu, mawquf, maqtu, mursal, munqati, mudallas, shadhdh, munkar, the conditions of authentication, the criteria of hadith critics, and the rulings of acting on hadith of various grades.

About The Author

Imam Jalal al-Din Abd al-Rahman al-Suyuti (849-911 AH / 1445-1505 CE) was the supreme Mamluk-era Egyptian polymath — a Shafii master who claimed authorship of more than 500 works across every classical Sunni discipline. Among his foundational works are al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Quran, Tadrib al-Rawi (in hadith terminology), Tarikh al-Khulafa, and (with al-Mahalli) the celebrated Tafsir al-Jalalayn.

تدريب الراوي شرحُ الإمام السيوطي الشهير في خمسة مجلّدات على "تقريب النووي وتيسيره لمعرفة سنن البشير النذير" — وهو تَنْقيحٌ واختصارٌ لمقدّمة ابن الصلاح في مصطلح الحديث. صار الكتابُ المتن المتقدّم لعلم الحديث ما بعد الكلاسيكي في العالم السنّي، يَتَناوَل أقسامَ الحديث كلَّها وشروط الصحّة ومعايير النقد وأحكام العمل بالحديث.

عن المؤلف

الإمام جلال الدين عبد الرحمن السيوطي (٨٤٩-٩١١ هـ) من أعظم علماء الإسلام في عصر المماليك — فقيه شافعي يَدَّعي تأليف ما يزيد على خمسمائة كتاب في كلِّ علم. من أمّهات كتبه: "الإتقان في علوم القرآن"، و"تدريب الراوي" في مصطلح الحديث، و"تاريخ الخلفاء". اشترك مع المحلّي في تأليف "تفسير الجلالين".
