About The Book
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did not confine himself to teaching the ummah the Qur'an alone. Rather, he paid particular attention to the purification of the souls as well. Allah refers to this aspect of the Messenger's responsibility in the following verse:
"It is He who raised among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and and wisdom. And before this they were lying in manifest error." - (Surah al-Jumu'ah, 62:2)
The reason for this is that good deeds have no real value without the purification of the soul. The pure Ahadith of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) also emphasize the need for Ihsan. The latter 'ulama' referred to this very quality of Ihsan as Tasawwuf and Suluk. Some people, lacking in understanding, have tried to defame Tasawwuf and Suluk by considering it to be some non-Arab philosophy. However. the true 'ulama' have always refuted such baseless opinions, and proved the validity of Tasawwuf and Suluk through the Qur'an and the blessed Ahadith. They also proved that Sufism (Tasawwuf) is an important part of the Shari'ah.
In his testimony, the great jurist and legist Imam ash-Shatibi, provides proofs absolving the reliable Sufis from the accusations of some ignorant people who claim that the Sufis are innovators and people of deviation. He explains very clearly that their conduct and tradition is based on following the Sunnah and abstaining from at that contradicts the Sunnah. He proves without any doubt that the genuine Sufis are people of ittiba (emulation) and not people of ibtida (innovation).
This book presents different aspects of a person's temporary sojourn in this world and how he should conduct himself in it. It portrays the way of the Sufis and how they lived their lives in strict accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah: Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah (1336–1417 AH / 1917–1997 CE) was a Syrian scholar of hadith and Hanafi law, born in Aleppo and widely regarded as one of the foremost muhaddithun of the twentieth century. He received his early training at the Islamic schools of Aleppo, then traveled to Cairo, where he studied at al-Azhar in the fields of Arabic, hadith, Shariʿa, and education. Among his teachers was the renowned late-Ottoman scholar Muhammad Zahid al-Kawthari, whose careful approach to the hadith sciences and the Hanafi tradition left a lasting mark on him. He undertook wide scholarly travels through Egypt, the Hijaz, the Levant, and India. Hanafi in law, Abu Ghuddah taught Islamic studies for years in Aleppo and then in the faculties of Shariʿa in Damascus, before spending more than two decades teaching at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, where he helped shape courses in the hadith disciplines. He authored, edited, and annotated roughly a hundred works, most of them in service of the Prophetic Sunna, the science of isnad, and the manners of teaching and learning. His best-known books include al-Rasul al-Muʿallim wa-Asalibuhu fi al-Taʿlim (The Prophet the Teacher and His Methods of Teaching), Qimat al-Zaman ʿinda al-ʿUlamaʾ (The Value of Time), al-Isnad min al-Din, and a short treatise on the manners of the seeker of knowledge. He is remembered for reviving attention to classical hadith methodology and the moral discipline of scholarship.

Mahomed Mahomedy: Mahomed Mahomedy is a contemporary South African translator working in the Deobandi tradition, based in KwaZulu-Natal. Over many years he has rendered major Urdu and Arabic religious works into clear, accessible English, helping bring classical and modern scholarship to an English-reading audience. His best-known project is the English translation of Seeratul Mustafa, the celebrated multi-volume biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Mawlana Muhammad Idris Kandhlawi, a work widely regarded for its depth of research and reliance on original sources. Produced together with Mufti Muhammad Kadwa, it is available in both the complete three-volume edition and an abridged version. Beyond the Sira, Mahomedy has translated Imam al-Nawawi's classic devotional hadith collection Riyad al-Salihin, the Muntakhab Ahadith compiled by Mawlana Muhammad Yusuf Kandhlawi, and ʿAbd al-Fattah Abu Ghudda's well-loved study Muhammad, the Perfect Teacher, on the Prophet's teaching methods. Working carefully and without ornament, he has made a substantial body of Deobandi and classical Sunni literature available to English readers, and his translations are widely circulated among students of hadith and Sira.
