About The Book

Much is known about the four rightly guided khulafa' of Islam, in contrast to the many great, pious leaders that came after them that followed in their footsteps. One of the great leaders in Islamic history is 'Umar Ibn 'Abdul 'Aziz the great grandson of Hadrat 'Umar Ibn al Khattab — the second khalifah. He is fondly remembered as `the second `Umar' and 'the fifth khalifah'.

This book, unique in content and style, was penned by a student of Imam Malik and friend of Imam Shafi'i, Imam Abu Muhammad 'Abdullah Ibn 'Abdul Hakam. In narrative style, one learns of the magnificent qualities of 'Umar Ibn 'Abdul 'Aziz. His justice, equity, piety, deep insight and leadership qualities are highlighted. This English version has been brought forth from the Urdu version by Hadrat Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Ludhiyanwi Shahid. An obituary of the Urdu translator has also been added in order to increase the splendour of the book.
