About
Layla Mabrouk is a contemporary Egyptian Islamic scholar whose writing focuses on the afterlife and the lives of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. She is best known for her abridgement of the classical work Kitab al-Ruh by the medieval scholar Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya (d. 751 AH), published by Dar al-Taqwa under the title The Soul's Journey After Death. Drawing on Qur'anic verses, hadith, and classical scholarship, the book traces the stages of the soul from the moment of death through to the Day of Judgment. She followed it with The Day of Rising, an independent companion volume on the events of the Last Day, covering the resurrection, the presentation of the record of deeds, the balance of deeds, the Sirat, the Basin of the Prophet ﷺ, and the entry into the Garden or the Fire. Her Sahaba Cards series presents concise accounts of the lives and achievements of thirty-four well-known male and female Companions. All three works are published by Dar al-Taqwa in the United Kingdom.
