About
Noor Yusuf is a British poet, author, editor, and translator born in South Africa and raised in the United Kingdom. She is the creator of the Adventures with the Awliya children's series, comprising Beyond the Forest (2019), Through the Blue Gate (2021), and Over Mist and Mountain (2024), adventure narratives woven from the lore of Muslim mystics and saints and exploring themes of spirituality, cultural heritage, and diversity. She co-translated Contemplating the Qur'an: A Thematic Thirty-Part Commentary on the Noble Qur'an (Ihsan Institute, 2017) in collaboration with her father, Shaykh Dr Asim Yusuf, rendering into English a thematic juz-by-juz commentary by Shaykh Ahmed Saad al-Azhari al-Hasani. At the age of fifteen, over just twelve nights, she composed The Soliloquy of the Full Moon (2015), the first original English mawlid, a thousand-line metered epic on the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Initiated into the Chishti Habibi Order under Hazrat Ghulam Muhyi al-Din Kazi, she has spent over a decade in traditional Islamic study and holds authorization to transmit the six canonical hadith works via elevated chains. Her work has earned her three Young Muslim Writers Awards.
