Meanings of the Glorious Qur’an: English Only Edition
Exactly what you're buying
Description
This English-only edition presents Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall's translation of the meanings of the Qur'an, first published in 1930 as *The Meaning of the Glorious Koran*. It holds a distinct place in the history of Qur'anic translation, having been the first English interpretation produced by a British Muslim, and one that has remained continuously in print since its original appearance.
This Turath Publishing edition offers a new revision of Pickthall's translation, prepared under the editorship of Muhammad Isa Waley. The text has been carefully adapted for modern readers, with the language clarified and updated where the original phrasing might otherwise obscure meaning for today's audience. This revision does not alter the basic character of Pickthall's rendering; rather, it aims to make his work more accessible while preserving the qualities that have sustained its reputation for nearly a century.
For readers seeking a well-established English translation of the Qur'an's meanings, this edition combines a historic text with the benefits of contemporary editorial attention, offering a readable and faithful presentation for both personal study and everyday reference.
