Nur al-Shumua fi Bayan Zuhr al-Juma is Ibn Ghanim al-Maqdisi's treatise on the legal and spiritual significance of Friday observance — specifically on the question of how the Friday prayer relates to the Zuhr prayer it replaces, the conditions of validity, the spiritual virtues of the day of Jumua, and the practices that honour it. About The Author

Shaykh Izz al-Din b. Abd al-Salam Ibn Ghanim al-Maqdisi (551-625 AH / 1156-1228 CE) was a Damascene Maliki jurist, hadith scholar, and Sufi master. His Hall al-Rumuz wa Mafatih al-Kunuz is a celebrated work on Sufi vocabulary; his Damascene establishment was a centre of Sufi training.

"نور الشموع في بيان ظهر الجمعة" رسالةُ الشيخ ابن غانم المقدسي في معنى الجمعة الفقهي والروحي — خاصّةً في علاقة صلاة الجمعة بصلاة الظُّهر التي تَنوبُ عنها، وشروط الصِّحَّة، وفضائل يوم الجمعة، والممارسات التي تُكْرِمه. ينتمي الكتاب إلى التَّقْليد السنّي الغنيّ في الرسائل عن فضائل وأحكام الجمعة.

عن المؤلف

الشيخ عزّ الدين بن عبد السلام ابن غانم المقدسي (٥٥١-٦٢٥ هـ) فقيه مالكي ومُحَدِّث وشيخ صوفي دمشقي. له "حلّ الرموز ومفاتيح الكنوز" في مصطلحات الصوفية، وكانت داره بدمشق مَرْكزاً للتربية الصوفية.
