About the author
Abd al-Alim al-Siddiqi: Mawlana Shah Muhammad Abd al-Alim al-Siddiqi rahimahullah (1892-1953) was born in Meerut, India, and completed the traditional Dars-e-Nizami curriculum at the age of sixteen. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1917 before continuing his religious formation in Makka and Madina. Over nearly four decades, he traveled extensively across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, devoting his life to calling people to Islam. His sincere character, moral conviction, and deep piety drew thousands to the faith and helped revitalize dormant Muslim communities across the world. During his travels he organized educational conferences, established mosques, engaged in interfaith dialogue, and authored more than a dozen works on Islamic subjects. He passed away on 22 Dhu al-Hijja 1372 AH in Madina.

Tahir Mahmood Kiani: Tahir Mahmood Kiani is a contemporary translator, writer, and teacher of the Islamic sciences who renders works from classical Arabic and Urdu into clear English. A graduate in Law and Islamic Law, he studied at Jamia al-Karam and the International Islamic University in Islamabad, and serves as a lecturer in advanced Islamic sciences at the al-Karam Institute, Jamia al-Karam, in Retford, United Kingdom, where he teaches classical Arabic grammar alongside the traditional sciences. He also writes and lectures on a range of Islamic subjects. His best-known work is the first complete English translation of the Mukhtasar al-Quduri, Imam al-Quduri's foundational manual of Hanafi law, presented with the original Arabic alongside sub-headings, clarifying insertions, and extensive footnotes. He has likewise translated Shah Wali Allah al-Dihlawi's Al-Fawz al-Kabir fi Usul al-Tafsir (The Great Victory on Qurʾanic Hermeneutics), Imam al-Suyuti's Al-Khasaʾis al-Sughra on the unique distinctions of the Prophet Muhammad, and a treatise on the etiquettes of companionship (Adab al-Suhba) by Imam Abd al-Wahhab al-Shaʿrani. His own composition, The Easy Quran, offers a translation of the Qurʾan in simple, everyday English, with verses set in flowing paragraphs to aid comprehension. His translations are valued for making demanding classical texts accessible to English readers while keeping close to the source.
