Sharh al-Aqida al-Kubra is Imam al-Sanusi's auto-commentary on al-Aqida al-Kubra — the longest and most detailed of the five Sanusiyya catechisms, completing the system that begins with the Muqaddimat, passes through al-Sughra al-Sughra and al-Aqida al-Sughra (Umm al-Barahin) and al-Aqida al-Wusta, and culminates in the Kubra. The work is the most comprehensive of al-Sanusi's creedal treatments, engaging deeply with the technical disputes of post-classical kalam, with the positions of the philosophers and the Mutazila, and with the more difficult questions of attributes and divine action.

About The Author

Imam Abu Abd Allah Muhammad b. Yusuf al-Sanusi (832-895 AH / 1427-1490 CE) was a Tlemceni Maliki scholar whose creedal works became the standard aqida curriculum of the Maliki-Ashari world.

"شرح العقيدة الكبرى" شرحُ الإمام السنوسي على متن "العقيدة الكبرى" — أَطْوَل متون السنوسية الخمسة وأَفْصَلُها، تُتِمّ به النظام الذي يَبْدَأ بالمقدّمات، ويَمُرّ بِالصغرى الصغرى والعقيدة الصغرى (أمّ البراهين) والعقيدة الوسطى، ويَنْتَهي عند الكبرى. الكتابُ أَشْمَل معالجات السنوسي العَقَدية، يَشْتَبِك بِعُمقٍ بنزاعات الكلام ما بعد الكلاسيكي التَّقْنيّة، وبمواقف الفلاسفة والمعتزلة، وبأَدَقّ مسائل الصفات والفعل الإلهي.
